About RE

RE went from fantasy to reality between 2002 and 2003. Before RE, we both had careers in fashion design. Armed with years of experience designing, developing collections, range planning and compiling comparative store reports we decided we wanted a new challenge - to set up shop, selling lifestyle and home accessories. Whilst still working full time, many months were spent burning the midnight oil; planning, organising, hunting, buying, painting and restoring in the studio above Jennys' garage. Inspired by some of the new fashion and lifestyle retailers we'd visited around the world we embarked on our vision... a large industrial space selling the things we love.

On the 7th of November 2003 RE opened in a converted workshop at the back of a filling station in Corbridge, a small market town in Northumberland. It was always our intention to reach a wider audience and we launched our first mail order catalogue, and website, in May 2004 and in August of the following year went live with E-commerce. The REgd. brand, our own range of unique products designed in house, followed in 2006. Since those early days we've gone from strength to strength winning Homes & Gardens Retailer of the Year in 2011 followed by a pop up and concession in the prestigious Regent Street store Liberty. In 2013, to celebrate our tenth birthday, we refurbished the stoRE and began work on our new updated website which launched in June 2014. Over Christmas 2014 we operated a pop up store at the prestigious Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art in Gateshead. Also in 2014 we lovingly refurbished the old petrol pump attendants kiosk which originally stood on the garage forecourt next to our store. On certain Saturdays our lovely little post war shop on wheels is rolled into position outside the Corbridge store and plays host to invited experts and artisans showcasing their wares from home-made foods to flowers, books, home-grown plants, jewellery and much more.

If you'd like to REad more details about our history take a look at our Timeline.

There's no point attempting to shoehorn our range into a paragraph, but if you do need a plaster Virgin Mary and a bottle of the best bubble bath in the world, this is the place! We have a huge cross section of customers and prices so whether in the store or on line everyone leaves with something - even if it's just a smile on their face!

And the name RE? It's a found object itself. Two large metal letters bought in a Paris flea market. Now you know!
